Timeframes
There are four critical timeframes around a competition. The time leading up to the event (5-7 Days before), the Practice Round, the Warm-Up and then between rounds. Each require a specific focus and intention to be best prepared to compete at your best ability.

As you’ve just learned Energy Management is critical for both your physical and mental components of performance. You need to be topped up ahead of a competition and that needs to be a, if not the priority. From that perspective you can create a purposeful training plan focused on fine tuning and maintenance not significant changes and adjustments. This is also the best opportunity to practice your warm-up to ensure your strategy is going to get you in the best place possible. If you have not competed at the specific location you will be at, this time is an opportunity to create a preliminary plan for the course. Having an initial plan is the best way to gather information to reduce your cognitive load ahead of competition. The best players also spend time intentionally building confidence and focus. This is the time to reinforce the positives and remind yourself of all the things you’ve done well to prepare. You also must take care of your close relationships and any distractions in order to give yourself the most space to compete when you arrive on site.
